Top Players In Digital Camera Market

March 3rd, 2010 by jojodee

Selecting a digital camera is definitely not an easy task with hundreds of brands available in the market. Before you decide to buy, you should take a look at the many features like optical quality, zoom, storage media and etc. These are only a few features among the many digital camera models to be compared. In terms of image quality, the amount of mega pixel resolution and the quality of the lens are the main factors that determine the sharpness of the pictures. And one of the best ways to know the quality and crispness of pictures is to see a printed picture.

As for image storage, there are many different kinds of storage media or flash memory cards available for digital cameras, which are rewritable chips that do not require power in order to retain the content. This makes it possible to take many photos without the fear of losing them before they are stored in CD-ROM or hard disk of the computer.

Surely, choosing a digital camera is not an easy task with so many models and range of mega pixels, features and different prices. Some of major brands available in the market are Argus, BenQ, Canon, Casio, Disney, Epson, Fujifilm, HP, JVC America, Kodak, Konica Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Polaroid, Ricoh, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony and Toshiba. However the most popular among them are Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, and Kodak.

Sony`s digital cameras are among the most innovative and popular in the industry. The cameras range from tiny 2 mega pixel point & shoots to bulky 8+ mega pixel units. Some of Sony digital cameras that are selling fast are Cybershot N2, Cybershot S700, and Cybershot T20.

Canon is also ruling the market with its amazing array of models. They receive high ratings from consumers because of their impressive construction and top quality images. Canon produces a wide variety of cameras, ranging from small point and shoot ELPH series to the professional range of SLRs. The most popular ones are Canon PowerShot A460, PowerShot A710 IS and PowerShot A640.

Nikon is not far behind in the consumer digital market where it is one of the major players. The Coolpix line of cameras with its impressive D-series SLRs has made a splash in the camera scene. Take a look at the fast selling ones: Nikon D40, Coolpix S50 and Coolpix L12.

Kodak digital cameras are known for their simplicity and quality. The easiest to operate when compared to its competitors. The one-touch image downloading, emailing, and printing features have made this brand even more popular in the market. Take a look at few of the models in the market: Kodak EasyShare V1003, EasyShare V803 and Easyshare C653.

Among the other major brands is the Olympus that offers innovative features like the 10x optical zoom on the Ultra Zoom models and the weather-proof body of the Stylus series. Some of the popular ones are Olympus Stylus 550UZ, Stylus 760 and Stylus 770 SW.

Before you start shopping for a digital camera, it will be helpful to know the lingo. Understand what the salespeople are talking about when they drop these digital camera terms – Borderless, CCD, Compact Flash, Digital Zoom, DPI, Firmware, F-stop, Image Format, Grayscale, LCD Screen, Mega pixel, Memory Card, Memory Stick, Optical Zoom, Secure Digital, SLR and xD Picture Card. So, to be on the safer side, it is better to have the knowledge of these terms so that you don`t get cheated.

There is so much that goes into buying a digital camera. Wrestle all the details under control with the various brochures provided by the manufacturers before deciding to buy one for yourself.

take pictures anywhere, under any conditions – Eva R. Alvarez –
Easy to use, good picture quality, zoom is just right and sufficient. Good camera for family use at the right price.

Incredible camera for the money. – D. Thomas – Deeeetroit..
I bought the Coolpix S570 for use as an aerial photography camera. In other words, I hang it on a model airplane and trigger the shutter remotely. I was worried that I’d made a bad choice after seeing all the “blurred image” commentary in other reviews.
I don’t know what those folks are doing wrong..I’ve gotten nothing but crisp & clear shots despite the fact that everything I shoot is from a moving (frequently violently vibrating) platform.
This little camera does everything I want of it, and it’s lightweight and solidly built to boot.
Two thumbs up from me!

Let down – Ryan A. Schweitzer –
My review will be short and sweet. I have tried everything that I know of and what customer support thought would help to clear up the pictures this camera takes. Every picture has a haze to it. It is very rare that I can snap a pic on the first try. If I move at all the picture comes out blurry. Oh well, 150 dollar paperweight.

Digital Cameras – Explained

February 25th, 2010 by jojodee

Over the last few years, the picture quality in digital cameras has becoming amazing. As recently as the year 2000, even the very best digital cameras you could buy produced grainy, poor-quality images that could never compare to what film had to offer. Today, though, digital cameras can easily rival and even exceed the quality of film, capturing pin-sharp digital images and never needing to be refilled with anything except power.

When you buy a digital camera, the most important thing you should look for is how many mega pixels (million pixels in the image) the photos it takes are. Cameras available today range from about 3MP at the low end to 10MP or more at the high end, with the price increasing steadily with each extra mega pixel.

However, how many mega pixels the camera has is not the only thing you should consider. Battery life is very important, as cameras with a short battery life can be frustratingly unusable, and the presence of various features in the camera’s software like auto focus and digital zoom should also be a consideration, as well as the camera’s ability to record non-photographic material like sound and video.

Ultimately, the best thing to do with digital cameras is to either buy the cheapest one you can find or a very high-end one – if you go for something mediocre, you will just be frustrated at having paid a lot of money for a camera that isn’t really all that great. If you are choosing between two cameras at a certain price point, it is almost always better to buy the one made by a known brand, as they will tend to have much better build quality, software and battery life, as well as being generally better-designed and easier to use.

As a final note, if you just want a cheap digital camera to take around with you and take occasional snaps of your friends and places you go, it’s well worth considering getting a mobile phone with a digital camera built in. As you take your phone around with you anyway, it’s no extra hassle to carry a camera phone, and the pictures they can take are rapidly increasing in quality, to the point where they are now where digital cameras were only a few years ago. As technology gets even better, a camera phone is increasingly becoming a very smart alternative to a digital camera for the casual user.

Fuji Digital Cameras Problems And What You Can Do

February 24th, 2010 by jojodee

Fuji digital cameras problems do exist as they do with any other camera. Some of the common problems with Fuji cameras are pictures being out of focus and dark screens. The nice thing about technology today, is if you have a problem with your Fuji camera, you can simply look on the Internet and look up the model of your camera for some troubleshooting ideas.

Most of the problems with digital cameras are user error, because people do not understand all the features and functions of the camera. One problem noted with Fuji cameras is battery drain. Of course, this is normal with any camera.

Digital cameras are great, but Fuji digital cameras problems and the batteries are common with any make and model of camera you buy. If you are camera uses AA alkaline batteries, you might be better off buying rechargeable batteries, which last longer. As for blurry pictures, many times users find out that it is because they do not have the proper settings on the camera. Depending on the type of camera you buy, you should always read the manual before operating the camera. Doing this helps cut down on user error and eliminates any problems with the digital camera.

If you have Fuji digital cameras problems, you can call customer service, if you prefer. They can walk you through troubleshooting steps to reset some of the functions and features on the camera. Fuji does have excellent customer service and most of the cameras have a very decent warranty plan. You can always look at reviews of different Fuji cameras to see if any other problems may exist, however keep in mind that some problems are user error. One possible problem you may find the Fuji digital cameras is that if you drop it, chances are it’s not going to work after that and you will lose your internal memory. Pictures captured on a memory card should still be there.

Best Digital Cameras – Far From Ideal

February 23rd, 2010 by jojodee

Digital technology has taken the world by storm, so much so that it might be easy to think the revolution is over. Digital cameras have decreased in size considerably over time and may cost $50 or $500. They are now more affordable and more user friendly than ever and although the latest models are remarkable pieces of machinery, there are still many of them on the market today.

Digital cameras have replaced the film for their convenience, even if it is only recently that digital cameras have grew up to the quality of 35 mm film. They both advanced during the last seven years they have become the best imaging solution for more than just a fan websites, they preferred by anyone who needs to get images on a deadline and with convenience.

The best digital cameras have begun to use technology Wi-Fi, so if your computer is wireless enabled, you can transfer the photos onto your computer without the need of data cable.

Such cameras are the wave of the future, and each camera manufacturer that is known in the industry is putting a majority of their research and development efforts and funds into development of the best digital camera around.

What Do You Consider Best?

What comes in your mind when you hear “best digital camera“. Ideality comes in your mind? There is nothing ideal in this world and same pertains to best digital cameras.

Take a look at these 4 facts:

- The movies from even the best digital cameras are grainy and unsharp and often jerky (due to the low frame rates).

- Even the best cameras are subject to blooming in the highlights

- Even the best cameras are incapable of consistently delivering accurate colour without the user performing a custom white balance.

- The best cameras are already limited by the quality of their lenses.

You see, like most things, there is a debate about what the best digital cameras are. For all those who want best digital camera, they probably have a lot of things on their mind. The first thing anyone notices when they begin the search for cameras, is the incredible number of cameras available.

There are tremendous numbers of sites that tell you what the best digital cameras are, while actually there are none if you take best for ideal. And this is why manufacturers constantly manufacture newest models – probably to improve on former digital camera’s flaws.

Many people wrongly believe that the best digital cameras are the ones with the highest megapixel rating. Others think that best cameras are the ones which are best bang for the buck when actually it all can be combined together.

In my opinion, best digital cameras are not ideal cameras but they are a combination of balance of price and features taken together. If you want to buy best digital camera then i suggest you to find a balancing point between features and price. Sacrifice the less essential features for more important, find best bang for the buck price and you are ready to buy.

great purchase – S. Naone –
My 10-year-old daughter bought this with her money when her twin sister got it as a Christmas present. It is easy for them to operate so they have taken many beautiful
pictures. No missed opportunities for pictures as the battery life is very reliable. A great camera for ages 9 to 99!

Alright I guess – A. Culp –
I was unimpressed with this camera. I bought it from Best Buy and I’ve discovered you’ll get random pixels in your pictures. The biggest issue I had though was that if your subject moved its head or foot slightly half the picture would blur and its not great in low light. Oh and any images requiring zoom seem terribly pixelated. I’ve been trying to find a camera to replace the casio I bought back in 2004 and so far everything I’ve tried in store seems worse. Before I dropped the old camera it had a quick shutter, could catch figures running full sprint with crystal clarity and catch images in low light easily. I’m really disappointed though this camera would do ok if just taking occasional pictures of subjects that were very cooperative and nearby. I’ve ordered a cybershot w290…we’ll see how it goes

Excellent smal camera – Nathan Silberman – USA,CA
Easy to carry
Easy to use
Excellent picture quality under normal conditions. I did not try it yet under extreme conditions.
Lots of setting through menus that allow obtain different effects (lighting, white balance, etc.)
Good return for the price.

sd1200i – T. Flores – California
Net Net I was totally disappointed with this camera. I was expecting incredible looking photos every time I pushed the button. At least half the pictures came out bad. The pictures were either blurry or dark. I have seen better cheep cell phone pictures. And the instruction booklet is a joke. Good luck on trying to resize your photos. The booklet was not written for consumers. This is just another classic case of paying for a name and receiving an inferior product.

Looking To Buy A Digital Camera? Where Do You Start?

February 21st, 2010 by jojodee

Purchasing a digital camera is most definitely not an easy task. In the days before digital technology the task was not really any easier but there were less criteria to think about it really only came down to as how easy the camera was to use, how versatile it was and probably and most importantly was it of good quality and produced good results.

Technology changes and progresses so quickly that buying a digital camera can be an absolute minefield. After all, do you really want to spend hard earned cash on a great new camera only to find that one has just come onto the market with for example a much better memory or resolution at a fraction of the price you paid. It really is wise if possible to consult someone who has experience in this area and can point out all the details which require consideration before you consider going ahead with a purchase.

Doing some research of your own is always a good idea before making any expensive purchase. Consumer reports will give you all the facts that you should need to help in making a choice and can be a really good starting point. There are of course many other sources such as photographic journals and electronic journals. Here you should get plenty of information as well as product reviews and technical information for all the big name brands which can be very useful although perhaps a bit mind boggling.

Also a reputable photography store should also be able to give invaluable advise and may be able to provide answers to any additional questions you may have – this does depend greatly on the knowledge and commitment of the staff.

Often the internet can be a huge source of information and purchasing products online can save quite a bit of money, in this instance however it is worth being a bit more careful. If you have problems with your digital camera you may not experience the same level of service you would receive from a reputable store.

My advise would tend to be play safe and visit a reputable store to make your purchase where you can see the cameras first hand and make a good informed choice and hopefully get a good deal too!
